Mary E. Palano, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, after a brief illness on March 19th, just three days short of her 96th birthday. She will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and one incredible cook and seamstress. She was born March 22, 1926 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Ernesto and Annunziata (Abbaticola) Venturini. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mary worked at the Glix Brand, Coat Factory, England Brothers before she became a Tester of Bushings and Transformers at General Electric. She retired in 1988. She enjoyed bowling, bocce, and card games: she was an avid pitch player. Mary was a member of the Mt. Carmel Ladies Guild and the Association of the Blind.
Mary was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Samuel A. Palano, whom she married July 4, 1949 at Mt. Carmel Church. Samuel passed away on September 29, 2009. She is survived by her five children Nancy Roux (Louis); Charles (Robyn); Barbara Dufour (William); Linda Palano - Schilling (Timothy); and Joan Ciolfi (Christopher).
She leaves behind 16 grandchildren who adored her and whom she was very proud of: Sarah Fox (Michael), Kathryn Richards (Joseph), Amanda Roux, Matthew Roux, Alyssa Palano, Samuel Palano, Nicholas Palano, Justin Dufour (Melanie), Jeffrey Dufour (Arielle), Meg Dufour, Ryan Dufour, Joshua Schilling (Shirin), Zachary Schilling (Hector), Rebecca Schilling (Stepfany), Olivia Ciolfi and Nico Ciolfi.
She also leaves 8 adorable great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mary leaves behind her two brothers Joseph Venturini and his wife Thelma; and Anthony Venturini and his wife Theresa. She was predeceased by her siblings, Vincent Venturini and his wife Dolly; Carmina Polchlopek and her husband Emile; and Rose Marchetti and her husband Anthony.
We would like to thank the staff of Sugar Hill Assisted Living, where she made her home for the last four years and the staff at BMC who gave her loving care for the last week.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A short prayer service, followed by a Celebration of Life, will be held at Mazzeo's Ristorante, 1015 South St. Pittsfield, MA on Thursday March 24, 2022 at Noon.
