Mary Evelyn Nichols, aged 91, of Eudora died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at home in Eudora. She was born March 12, 1926 in Meridian, MS. She is the daughter of the late John Wesley and the late Carrie Elizabeth (Wilson) Collins. Around 1930, her family moved from Mississippi, to an area known as "Dry Bayou." She was proud of her small community, and was known as a "Dry Bayou Gal." She was a lunch lady at G.C. Johns Elementary School in Eudora for many years. There she made many friends, who called her "Big Mama." She was a homemaker, a member of Wellford Share Group, and member of Northside Baptist Church in Eudora, Arkansas. She loved to garden, and could name every single plant she saw. Also, if she saw some flowers on the side of the road she liked, she would tell you to pull over and let her dig them up. She loved her all her family and friends, dearly. Proceeded in death by her parents, husband, Elmer T. Nichols, daughters, Mary Frances West undefined four daughters, Phyllis (Edsel) Purifoy of Gurdon, AR, Linda (Billy) Foster of Lake Village, Lisa (Robert) Johnson of Eudora, and Carol (Randy) Aaron of Oak Grove, LA; twenty two grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, April 13 from 12:00-2:00pm at Northside Baptist Church in Eudora, Arkansas with the funeral at 2:00pm with Bro. James Kitchens officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery under the direction of Bishop-King Funeral Home of Lake Village. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Sheriffs` Youth Ranches P.O.
