Mary Alice Miller, 90 of Franklin, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, October 9, 2020 at her residence at Morning Pointe of Franklin, Indiana.
She was born on November 23, 1929 in Ashland, Wisconsin, to Van S. Ashmun and Margaret (Fiege) Ashmun. She married Wayne Harry Miller in September, 1950. Mary is survived by their two sons, Terry Miller (Phoebe) and Jeff Miller (Debbie); one sister, Nancy Clark (Jim); grandchildren, Matt Miller (Danee'), Paul Miller (Rachel), Rob Miller (Brandi), Kevin Miller, Todd Miller (Leigh), Adam Miller (Julianne) and Jessica Cornely (Daniel); and great-grandchildren, Van Miller, Liam Miller, Madeline Miller, Brooks Miller, Boone Miller, Mia Miller and Grayson Miller. She was preceded in passing by her parents, husband Wayne, and her older sister, Phyliss "Jeannie" Benn.
Mary was a graduate of Ashland High School. She attended Northland College and the University of Wisconsin Stout. Mary received her Bachelor's degree from Chicago State Teachers College and her Master's degree from Indiana University.
She was an Elementary School Teacher at Hazel Crest, Illinois and LaPorte, Indiana.
She was a member of the National Adubon Society and the LaPorte Federation of Teachers. Mary enjoyed quilting, painting, cross stitching, reading and spending time with her family.
A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date in Bayfield, Wisconsin. Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Morning Pointe Activities Fund, 75 S. Milford Drive, Franklin, Indiana 46131.
