Mary Faye Woolford, age 90 of Delaware passed away Friday, January 7, 2022, at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
Born on November 15, 1931, in Holden, WV, she was the only daughter of the late Carl and Emma (Ramsey) Martin. Mary earned a BA from West Virginia Wesleyan, Buckhannon, WV.
Moving to Delaware in 1958, her life centered on music, education, and family. For 27 years she taught seventh-grade language arts at Willis Intermediate School of the Delaware City Schools. Following retirement, she continued to tutor students in both language arts and piano from her home.
A woman of faith, she sang with both the First Presbyterian Church and William St. United Methodist Church Choirs. She enjoyed a passion for gardening and was the consummate entertainer from her lovely manicured home. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and TOPS.
Mary will be long remembered for the song in her heart and her passion for life and every endeavor.
She is survived by daughters Katherine (Mark) Kemp of Powell, and Dr. Elizabeth (Paul) Listerman of Edgewood, KY, 4 grandchildren: Aaron (Megan) Kemp, Dr. Molly (Andrew) Tuller, and Abby and Adam Listerman.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years Melvin L. Woolford in 2001, brothers Harry, Harold, Carl Jr., and twin Charles Ray Martin.
Friends may call at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Dr. at W. William St., Delaware from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Masks will be required. A service celebrating the life of Mary Woolford will follow at 5:00 p.m. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery.
