On Tuesday, November 23, 2021 we celebrated your 100th Birthday. Monday morning, November 29, 2021 we had to say good bye. Fly with the angels. Mary (Aldred) MacPhee, born on November 23, 1921 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. To her parents Robert L. Aldred and Pearl G. (McKnight) Aldred. Her family moved to South Boston, MA when she was a young child. Later they moved to Boxboro, MA. In 1940 she married Kenneth (Ken) MacPhee they made their home in West Acton, MA, where they had 6 boys and then 1 girl. In 1954 they moved to Boxboro, MA, where she raised her children. Mary worked the 11 pm to 7 am shift at Bradley Sun Manufacturing (a div. of American Can) in Maynard, MA for about 15 years. She then worked for Zero Manufacturing in Southboro, MA. When her children were young she was a 4H leader. She volunteered for a lot of activities that her children were involved in. Mary would make special occasions cakes for people. She had a knack for decorating cakes. She also made jewelry that she gave as gifts. In the mid-seventies she and her husband Ken moved to Lempster, NH, where she lived until going to Sullivan County Health Care. While living in Lempster she worked for Sylvania GTE in Hillsboro, NH. She retired in 1986. After her retirement Mary and her husband Ken spent their winters in Florida with their son Roger and family and the summers at their camp on Long Pond in Lempster, NH. Her son Richard moved to Lempster a short time before Mary's husband Ken passed away in 1995. Richard made it possible for Mary to stay in her home that she loved, as long as she did. In her retirement she continued doing her crafts that she loved to do and even learned how to cane chairs. She loved knitting and made numerous baby sweaters and adult sweaters. She loved to sew. One year she made Care Bears for all of her grandchildren. She had 17 grandchildren. Mary leaves behind her children: Roger (Sue) of Eustis, FL; John (Judy) of Holliston, MA; Philip (Cheryl) of Maynard, MA; Richard of Lempster, NH and Judith (Cecil) of Bethel, VT; her Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband Kenneth (Ken); son, Kenneth Peter (Pete) and Donald Robert (Buddy). There are no services. There will be a private family burial in the spring in Boxboro, MA. We would like to thank the Sullivan County Health Care staff for all the wonderful care and love Mary was given in her last years. You all have a special place in our hearts.
