Mary Lynn Faulk
Help us celebrate Mary Lynn! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Mary Lynn.
Lynn was a caring and loving mother, sister, "Nana" and friend. She left this world suddenly on May 3, 2023 at the age of 77.
Lynn was born to Robert James Lancaster "Poppy" and Louise Brown Lancaster "Mickey" on October 19, 1945. Lynn loved the Lord and is now in Heaven celebrating with family and friends that preceded her.
She is survived by her husband Robert D. Faulk, her brother, Robert James Lancaster, Jr. "Bobby" of Aijic, Mexico, her son and daughter-in-law (Zac and Wendy Smith of Fayetteville), her stepson (Robbie Faulk, Jr.) her five very loved grandchildren: Aaron Smith (and wife Sidney) of Portsmouth, VA; Seth Smith (and wife Kealani) of Killeen,TX; Jesse Smith Woolard (and husband Timothy Woolard) of Fayetteville, NC; Chaz Smith and Stephen Smith of Fayetteville; she is also survived by her two great-grandchildren, Cory Smith of Killeen, TX and Graylyn Woolard of Fayetteville, NC. Additionally, she is survived by her special uncles Tryon (Ann) and Maurice (Helen) and several cousins.
Lynn leaves behind many treasured friends that became family to her, including Sheila Bryant and her "other mother" Rebecca McLawhorn. The presence she made in any room will be missed by so many.
Lynn graduated from Methodist University with a degree in Education and then attended East Carolina University where she obtained her Master's Degree. She began her teaching career at Jasper School until the school closed in 1988. After leaving Jasper School, she taught at James W. Smith Elementary School where she soon became the Principal. She retired as Principal in early 2000. Her amazing work as an educator earned her a special place at James W. Smith Elementary School; she rarely, if ever, shared that the library was dedicated and named in her Honor at the time of her retirement. She was a life time member of Alpha Delta Kappa.
After her retirement, and not being one to become idle Lynn initially started a jewelry business which quickly grew to the Boutique of "Alluring Illusions". Lynn continued to be active in her business and loved helping each of her customers find "just the right thing" when they entered her home or reached out with a phone call. Her customers, models and dealers will greatly miss the "friend time" she spent one-on-one with each of them. She made every person she touched feel special.
One of Lynn's nicknames was "Snax". She always had snacks and food for every occasion and was the first through many doors with her "Pig-Pickin" cake. Lynn never failed to put others before herself and she never complained. She listened and paid attention to her friends and would always follow up with a phone call to let them know she was thinking of them and praying for them. Many people touched by this tragic loss no doubt have a card from Lynn letting them know how much she cared or a recent phone call from her saying, "I just called to say you I love you."
