It is with bittersweet emotions that we report the passing of our mother, Mary (Lyn) Shipley into the loving arms of Jesus on Jan. 25, 2022. She was the sweet spirit that held the family together.
She was born in Warrensburg, Missouri, to Everette and Pauline Bybee. She traveled with her family to the Snohomish area when she was 10. The tales told of their journey are truly entertaining and will bring a smile to anyone's face that heard them. She worked at various jobs from Seattle to Everett until she married Mel Shipley in 1946. They were married almost 60 years until Mel's death in 2013. Mom was truly the ultimate mom, attending sporting events for kids and grandkids. She was heavily involved in Little League Baseball from scorekeeper to coach. After the kids left home, Mom and Dad did some traveling around the U.S. with friends. She was also heavily involved in her church activities at First Covenant Church, Everett.
She was a loving mother, loyal wife, devout Christian, and treasured friend to many.
She will be missed by children, Randy and Ila Shipley, Nancy Bourasaw; sister, Barbara Briggs; grandchildren, Mike Bourasaw and Patti Brown; great grandchildren, James Habedank, Brittany, Nathan, Heather, Garrett and Thomas Bourasaw; great great grandchildren, Alexa and Baby James Habedank. Plus many nieces and nephews, dear friend, Nova, and loving caregiver, Aliya (who we were so blessed to have with us).
Many thanks to the caregivers of Hospice of the Northwest for their tender caring and helpful support during Mom's illness- each one deserves a medal. Contributions may be made to Atonement Free Lutheran Church or Hospice of the Northwest.
