Mary Lou Cockcroft, 86, of Dorchester, widow of Billy Hubert Cockcroft entered into eternal rest on Thursday April 15, 2021 at Summerville Community Hospice House.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, April 18, 2021 in the Dorchester Cemetery with the Reverends G. Palmer Hudson and Robert Hoover officiating.
Mary Lou was born on June 30, 1934, in Orlando, Florida, a daughter of the late Frederick Elliott McDonnell and Ovieda Rice McDonnell. She was a 1953 graduate of Barwell High School, received her Associates Degree from Trident Technical College and was a Postmaster with the US Postal Service. She was an active member of the Salem United Methodist Church and the Patrick Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Duchesses of the Dorchester Red Hatters, Lydia's Women's Society, Dorchester Bridge Club and Daughter of the Confederacy Warren Hughes Chapter. She was predeceased by a brother, Carl Oscar McDonnell and a sister, Martha Lee McDonnell Carew
Surviving are three sons, Clay (Engele) Cockcroft, Summerville, Jesse E. (Shelia) Cockcroft, and Forrest (Nikki) Cockcroft, all of Dorchester; grandchildren, Joshua Cockcroft, Meaghan Cockcroft, Jacob Cockcroft, Rebekah Cockcroft, Jordan Cockcroft, Andrew Cockcroft and Garrison Cockcroft; and a great-grandson, Lincoln Alexander Miller.
