Mary Linda Nolker, nee Bennington, 80, of Woodstock, IL, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2020, following a lingering illness.
Born February 6, 1940, Linda grew up in Harbor Springs MI before moving to California after nursing school. There she met Navy pilot Douglas Nolker, who fell in love at first sight but waited until the second date to propose. Always a mystery, she kept her acceptance secret for two years before moving effortlessly into the role of wife and mother. Physician's Desk Reference in hand, she tended to friends and family alike, traveling weeks at a time to nurse a sick relative. A prolific quilter, Linda's legacy includes stacks of award-winning quilts handmade over thirty years. We find great comfort in wrapping ourselves in these exquisite Mom hugs.
Survived by her beloved husband of fifty-five years, Douglas Nolker; adoring children, son Matthew (Waleeta Canon) Nolker, daughters Jennifer (Ragnar) Winkler and Heather (Charles) Leewood; and grandchildren Madeline, James, Gilda, Owen, Ada and Henry. Surviving family include brothers Ronald, Bruce, Duane and Lester (Michael Martin) Bennington. Preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Alice Bennington and siblings Donna Fowler, Wendell and Clifford.
Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. For online condolences, please visit www.davenportfamily.com.
