Mary Lou Kulpinski, age 85 of Dubuque, IA formerly of Shullsburg, WI passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Bethany Home in Dubuque. She was born at home in Shullsburg on September 9, 1938 the daughter of Thomas and Eunice (Nethery) Doyle. Mary Lou grew up in Shullsburg, attended St. Matthew's Grade School and graduated from Shullsburg High School. After high school, Mary Lou went on to attend college at Stevens Point. She got her degree in Home Economics and eventually served as Food Service Supervisor in the Wausau Hospitals for many years. Mary Lou was united in marriage to Leo J. Kulpinski on August 17, 1963, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Shullsburg. Together they lived in Wausau, WI for many years. Leo died in August of 1994. She continued to live in Wausau until 2018, when she moved to Sunset Park Place in Dubuque before moving to Bethany Home a few years later.
Mary Lou is survived by three brothers: Fr. Gene Doyle, Rick (Deb) Doyle, and Tim (Annie) Doyle; two sisters: Joan (Mike) Miles and Deb (John) Harry; two sisters-in-law: Eva Doyle and Margaret Wolfe; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leo in 1994; and brothers: Billy Doyle, Bob Doyle, Jack Doyle, Jerry Doyle, and Denny Doyle.
Mary Lou was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Wausau, WI for many years. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and could always be seen looking in and putting information in her "little black book." Although Mary Lou didn't have any of her own children, she spoiled her nieces and nephews like they were her own. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church (519 W Roosevelt St, Cuba City, WI 53807) with her brother, Fr. Gene Doyle officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery in Shullsburg. A visitation will be held Friday, March 8, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Shullsburg is serving the family.
