Mary Clare (Christie) Knox passed away June 13th 2023 at home in Santo, Texas.
Born November 19, 1935 to Clare and Florence (Dereich) Christie in Akron, Ohio, she grew up with her brother, Charles (Sonny) and sister, Patricia Anne (Pat) in Granger. Mary graduated from Our Lady of the Elms High School in 1953.
Mary attended Akron University and was a member of the Newman Club. While living at the YWCA in Akron, Mary met and married Lawrence "Larry" Knox.
Mary and Larry moved to Atwater, where they raised three children. She earned a degree from Kent State University and in 1967 began a long career teaching for the Waterloo School System.
Mary was a member of St Joseph's Catholic Church in Randolph. She enjoyed gardening in her flower beds, singing with the parish choir, and the company of her dog, Delilah.
Mary was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; her brother, Charles Christie; and sister, Patricia Lownsbury.
Mary is survived by the children, Dennis and Donna (Shull) Knox of Marion, KY, Barbara and John Petrosky of Santo, TX, Delores and Joe Kimsey of Benton, KY; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Rosary and Funeral Mass will be at St Pius in Calvert City, KY on July 26 beginning at 10:00. Interment will be held at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Randolph at 1:00 on August 9.
