Mary Elizabeth Dotson Homerding, 69, passed away Sunday February 16th, 2020, in Georgetown, Texas, surrounded by family. Mary was born on April 12th, 1950 in Nashville, Tennessee to George Edward "Buddy" and Sammi June (Finney) Dotson. She spent her childhood days in Sewanee, Tennessee and moved to Georgetown, Texas in 1983. She met and married Roy Philip Homerding in April of 1989. Mary was a lover of all animals but had a special place in her heart for elephants. She was known for her incredible sense of humor, gorgeous dimple, and infectious laugh. Although she had no children, she was a mama to her fur babies, nieces, and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, maternal grandparents Lester and Ocie (Brooks) Finney, paternal grandparents Edward and Sallie Dotson, and her beloved brother George Dotson. She is survived by her husband Roy; her brothers Allen and David Dotson; sister Janet Galbreath; aunts Susan Clark, Elizabeth Yates, and Madeline Prince; uncles Charles Finney and Mark Finney; nieces Southern Dotson and Mimi Vaughan Conklin; nephews Russell Dotson, Dylan Dotson, and Dylan Galbreath; and many dear great nephews, nieces, and cousins. The family would like to give special thanks to the ICU staff at St. David's Georgetown Hospital for the kindness and compassion shown in her care. A private memorial service is planned for early summer at Eastern Star Cemetery in Sewanee, TN. In lieu of flowers, it is her request that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Americares in her honor.
