Mary Anne Hogue was a tireless and complete woman advocating for equal rights for all people, especially young women on the way up. She followed in her mother Marjorie's footsteps as a girl scout leader at the state and regional levels. Mary Anne went to summer camp as an attendee until such an age in high school when she became a counselor until she left for college at West Virginia Wesleyan College. She went on to earn a master's degree in food system safety at Penn State, to becoming an associate professor at University of Delaware. From there she left for private industry to sell on a commission. First with Basic American potato company & then on to her Management Company. Mary Anne started one of the first all-female management companies in Charlotte; Continental Management Co. from 1986 to 1996. She sold this company to Steritech & became its first VP of food safety. Mary Anne's 18-year career in Food Safety Systems Management is truly extraordinary. Her record of $42 million of food safety audits is unequalled anywhere in this industry at any time by anybody. At one time she covered the whole USA but split the country with an associate & took everything east of the Mississippi; selling to restaurants, fast food/convenience stores, hospitals, college campuses, catering services, food trucks, you name it. She created & managed audit programs that stand today as profit centers for the company. Mary Anne is survived by her husband O. Barry Crabtree; sister-in-law/best friends, Jill Crabtree and her wife Jill Scurry; her son and daughter-in-law Jesse and Sommer Crabtree. Mary Anne is blessed with her only son Todd (42) his wife Jessica (47) & her 9 year old grandson Maxwell. Mary Anne's warmth, compassion, and her uncanny ability to see the world through another person's eyes made her the most incredible talent I have ever witnessed. I feel gifted & blessed to have had her teach me how to practice these unique life skills. The Hogue family will have a service May 6, 2023, at 11 am at Avondale Presbyterian Church on Park Road in Charlotte. For additional info please contact the church's Pastor Jim Ewen.
