Mary Elizabeth Whiteside Hogan entered paradise on August 4, 2018, after courageously battling Parkinson's Disease for nearly 25 years. Family and husband of 64 years, Harold Hogan, surrounded her as she went to be with The Lord. Mary was born on December 8, 1933, in Sipe Springs, Texas, to Jim and Mamie Whiteside. Mary graduated from Texas Tech University where she was an active member in Kappa Kappa Gamma. While there, she met and married Harold, the love of her life. As her husband says, "Mary would light up the room the moment she entered."
Of all her accomplishments, her greatest was her family. Mary is survived by her husband, Harold; brother Jerry and wife Shirley; her three children Harold Jr., Denise Behrmann, and James, along with their spouses; five grandchildren; and, one great-grandchild. Mary was an example of Christ's unselfish love and spread joy to all who knew her - she will be dearly missed.
Mary's life will be remembered, honored, and celebrated by family and friends on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Tyler at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
