Mary Grace was born in Jackson, MS, and graduated from St. Joseph high school in 1963. She received her R.N. from St. Dominic Hospital in 1966. She met her loving husband Pat on a blind date and married in August 1970. After living in Columbus, MS, for several years, they moved back to Jackson and opened Upjohn Healthcare, a nursing service, in 1973. They worked side by side for the next 23 years. The name was changed to Oxford Healthcare in 1992, and the business sold in 1996. While in Jackson, Mary Grace was State Treasurer of the Mississippi Nursing Association and very active at St. Richard's, where she was a member of the Parish Council, a lay minister, and was active in her beloved Church Circle. She was a member of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and was a board member of the Catholic Foundation. Over the years, she was active in the Mississippi Kidney Foundation, a sustaining member of the Jackson Cancer League and active in St. Dominic Hospital Auxiliary, serving as Secretary and Vice-President. Her volunteer efforts also included the Gleaners, Stewpot, Jackson Friends of the Library, MS Symphony League, and MS Museum of Art. She loved all of her friends, and was active in PEO, several luncheon clubs, antique clubs, bridge clubs, and book clubs. She moved to St. Catherine's Village in 2016. She was an adored wife, mother, and grandmother, and was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her genuine love of people, her unwavering selflessness, her positive attitude, and her generosity of spirit.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Pat, in 1996, and her parents, Edmund Hickey and Grace and Frank Callahan.
