Mary Ann (Gillaspy) Steinhagen, 92, Ellettsville, IN passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Hearthstone Health Campus.
Mary Ann was born on November 23, 1928 in Ellettsville, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Fred Steinhagen, her parents James D. and Rose Gretchen (May) Gillaspy, her sisters, Rea Ellen (In infancy) and Thelma Jane (1yr old), her brothers, Jimmy Gillaspy (Korean War) and, Donnie Gillaspy. Nephews, Brian Gillaspy, Rick and Mike Burnett, Son in Law, Robert Oliver Jr.
She is survived by one son, Gerry Steinhagen and his wife, Debbie of Greenwood, IN, two daughters, Beverly (Steinhagen) Oliver, Winchester, IN and Anita (Steinhagen) and her husband Ron Schneider II of Bloomington, IN, four grandchildren, Paige (Oliver) Moore and her husband Preston, Scottsdale, AZ, Kevin Burnett and his wife Elizabeth of Greenwood, IN and Todd Burnett and Jessica of Gunnison, CO, Ronnie Schneider III, Bloomington, IN. Three great-grandchildren, Jackson and Elin (Greenwood, IN), Kaya (Gunnison, CO). One sister, Martha (Burnett) Moyer, Vincennes, IN, one brother, Bill Gillaspy and wife Oida, Corryton, TN. Nieces and nephews, Connie and Cindy Burnett, Kim and Lori Gillaspy, Teresa and Jeff Gillaspy.
Mary Ann enjoyed working and always said, "You get the best education by working with other people."
She served through the years on several organizations. She was a pink lady at Bloomington Hospital, past choir member of the Ellettsville Christian Church, Ellettsville Tri Kappa, Chairman of the Ellettsville Park Board, President of the Ellettsville Republican Club, President of R.B.B.Store, was on the state finance board, Ellettsville License Branch Mgr, worked at Sarkas Tarzin and Crane Naval Station. The two activities she enjoyed most recently were President of the History Museum and writing the "Past and Present History" for the Ellettsville Journal.
I want to leave you with my favorite sentiment, and one I dearly love: "May your moccasins make happy tracks in many snows and may the rainbow always touch your shoulders."

Services for Mary Ann will be private, Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville is assisting with arrangements.
