Mary M. Duke of Knickerbocker, TX., age 95, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed peacefully from this world on November 13, 2021, in her home surrounded by her children and many of her grandchildren who all loved her dearly. She was born in Miles, TX, on August 28, 1926, to Romulo D. Morales and Alvina Flores. She was a lifelong practicing Catholic who clung to her faith. She married David L. Duke in 1947. They spent 52 years together raising their children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary spent many years working for Levi Strauss and at Golden Years Nursing Home in Christoval, TX. She is survived by her children, Lupe Estrada (Robert), Rita Robles, Daniel Duke (Janie) of Knickerbocker, Lydia Cardenas (Pete) and David Duke (Laura) of San Angelo, mother-in-law, Letha Duke (Big Spring, TX), sister-in-law, Josie Morales (Florida), 17 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, David L. Duke, parents Romulo & Alvina Morales, sisters Eva Torres (Herbert), Rachel Diaz (Eulogio), brothers Ramon (Julia), Raul (Olivia), Reynaldo Morales, son-in-law, Freddy Robles, grandson Bobby Estrada and granddaughter Jennifer Cardenas. The family would like to thank Dr. Viki Forlano, Kindred Hospice, especially her nurse, Judith and CNA's, Mercedes and Monica, her goddaughter and caregiver, Della Garcia Smith. We will never be able to express our gratitude for the care and kindness that they all provided. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Mt. Carmel Hermitage, PO Box 337. Christoval, TX 76935. Visitation, Rosary & Mass of Christian Burial will be limited to immediate family only. Mask's, sanitation, and rules of social distancing will be required for all in attendance. Please leave your condolences on the Tribute Wall. The family welcomes your memories and prayers. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2021 in the chapel of Johnson's Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment to follow in Knickerbocker Cemetery.
