McFarland / Edgerton - Mary Arlene (Drought) Crichton, 76, passed away on Thursday October 5, surrounded by family. Mary was born March 29, 1947, to John and Melva Drought. She grew up in Edgerton where she met and married her husband of 57 years, Clifford Crichton. In 1972 they built their home in the country in McFarland where they raised two sons and lived for 41 Years. Two years ago, they moved back to the Edgerton/Milton area.
Mary loved being in the country and keeping track of the wildlife that found its way into the yard. She especially enjoyed the birds and kept many a flock supplied with food throughout the years. She also had a lot of fun playing the slot machines at DeJope casino. She once won a huge 'big check' jackpot and had a great time with the VIP status that brought her at the casino.
Mary is survived by her husband Cliff Crichton, sisters Cathy Withers of Sioux Falls SD, Barbara Rowin (Gary) of Madison, and brother Mike (Darcie) Drought of Edgerton, many nieces, nephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her sons Cliff Jr. and Jason, her parents and 8 brothers and 4 sisters.
Mary was greatly loved by her family and friends for her unique personality, quick wit and generous heart. We will miss her every day.
Per her wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. A celebration of life is being planned for the near future and a notice of that event will be posted in this paper.
