Mary Brown, 75, of Clayton, TX, passed away on Monday morning, Aug. 29, 2022, in Tyler. Mary Hellen Sells was born on Jan. 7, 1947, in Henderson, to the late Clyde William and Sylvia Bea Robinett Sells. She graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1965. Mary married Marlis Cleveland Brown on Oct. 1, 1966, in Clayton and preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 2011, after 45 years together. She enjoyed spending time with her family, attending church, traveling, reading, working in her yard tending her flowers and her birds. Mrs. Brown was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church in Clayton. She was also preceded in death by a son, James Glenn "Jamie" Brown; brothers, William H. Sells and John T. Sells; brother-in-law, Billy Ray Brown; and sister-in-law, Sandra Chaffin.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Oney and husband Paul; son, Mike Brown; siblings, Rebecca Godwin and husband Harold and Clyde W. Sells and wife Cathy; sisters-in-law, Linda Sells and Debbie Gibbs; grandchildren, Jason Brown and wife Hootie, Matt Brown and wife Macie, Taylor Oney, Emily Oney, Adam Brown, and Leigha Brown; great-grandchildren, Karlyn, Zander, Wrenlee, and Kennam Brown; and special dog, Speckles. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Taylor Oney and Bro. Dale Gary officiating. Interment will follow in Clayton Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Billy Wayne Sells, Travis Sells, Chris Sells, Billy Denby, Ricky Aviles, and Rocky Roehl. Honorary pallbearers are Jonathan Sells, Jacob Denby, and Dalton Aviles.
