Mary Carolyn Crosby, 96, of Conway, NH passed away peacefully on January 23rd.
Born in Taunton, MA February 7, 1927, daughter of the late Edward and Mary Josephine
Cronan. Carolyn attended Taunton High School graduating in 1945. Later, in her 50s she went on
to earn a degree in business at Fisher Junior College. Carolyn enjoyed many years working in the
Public Relations Department at Morton Hospital in Taunton MA, where she made numerous
lifelong friends.
Following her high school years she met Arthur upon following a recommendation from her
father to seek car repair services from Crosby's Garage. Outgoing, vivacious, and chatty, Carolyn
was the balance to Arthurs level headed, hard working and no nonsense demeanor. Married
July 16, 1955, the pair were inseparable until his passing in 2009. Carolyn and Arthur engrained
themselves in the communities they were a part of. In Taunton, Arthur and Carolyn were long
time members of the Dighton Rock Grange. Later, when relocating to Conway in 1993, they
became staples at The Gibson Center. A devoted Catholic, on Saturday evenings it was most
common to find her at Our Lady of The Mountains Church in North Conway.
Lovingly known by most in The Mount Washington Valley as "Nana" she always priorized her
friends and family. Carolyn was truly The Valley's "Nana," talk to her once she would remember
you forever and be your biggest cheerleader. Never one to be short on words, she was happy to
share her wisdom and extensive knowledge that came with her nearly 97 years. A true force,
this petite 4' 10" woman was the matriarch to her family and for many, a mentor and
confidante. While she will continue to be deeply missed by many, we can all find solace in
knowing she has been reunited with her best friend and husband, Arthur.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann and husband Rick; sons William and Arthur
Crosby II; grandchildren, Arthur Crosby III and wife Sara, Meghan Limmer and husband Trevor,
Caroline Fall and husband Kyle, Liam Crosby and Ciara Crosby. Carolyn is also survived by great
grandchildren, Arthur Crosby IV and Bailey Fall.
Carolyn is predeceased by her parents Edward and Mary Josephine Cronan, husband Arthur E.
Crosby, and siblings Edward, Corline, and William Cronan.
A viewing will be held by Furber & White Funeral home on Thursday, February 1st at 10am
followed by mass at Our Lady of The Mountains Catholic Church at 12pm in North Conway, NH.
