MADISON, Wis. - Mary Beth (Todd) Johnson, age 80, of Madison, died on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Evansville Manor Nursing Home in Evansville, Wis. She was born on July 10, 1940, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Milford Mehaffy and Margaret Ethel (Cummings) Todd.
Mary Beth graduated from Morning Sun High School in 1958. She married Keith Edwin Johnson on March 22, 1958. Mary Beth helped Keith and raised their three children on the family farm. After they sold the farm, they moved to Wapello, Iowa, and opened the Hawk's Nest. Later, they moved to Madison to help their son run a Madison business and to be closer to their children and grandchildren. She also worked at the Marriott Hotel as a gift shop manager until it closed.
Mary Beth played bridge at all the local senior centers in Madison. She loved watching her grandchildren grow and was a big part of their lives, attending all of their sporting events. Mary Beth loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes sports and also became a Badgers' fan once she moved to Wisconsin. She loved being outside playing golf when she was younger with Keith and sitting outside on her patio at her home. She loved going to lunch and shopping with her daughter, Kim, every weekend.
Mary Beth is survived by her son, Todd Johnson of Madison, Wis.; daughter, Kim (Darin) Trautner of McFarland, Wis.; four grandchildren, Meredith Johnson, Marissa Johnson, Tyler Trautner and Colby Trautner; brother, Harold "Charlie" (Beverly) Todd; and sister, Shirley Nott. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Keith Johnson; daughter, Julie Johnson; three brothers, Ralph Todd, Don Todd and Bruce Todd; and three sisters, Martha Todd in infancy, Marilyn Bozman and Dorothy Baker.
A memorial service will be held at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 606 N. Orchard St., Mediapolis, Iowa, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021, with the Rev. Jerry Collell officiating. Private burial will follow. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
