Mary Lynne "Melee" Barcott died peacefully and surrounded by family on March 16, 2023. She will be remembered by many as a woman of conviction who lived her life in service to God and devoted to family, friends and the community around her.
The daughter of Frederick and Grace Llewellyn and sister to Fred, she was born and raised in Yakima WA. She earned a bachelor's degree from Gonzaga University and was on track to become a nun until she met and then married the love of her life, "Big, Bad, Bouncing" Bob Barcott. Together they raised six children, Gregory the eldest followed by David, Mollie, Steven, Janet and Carrie Catherine (aka Cici).
In dedicating her life to the service of others she impacted all around her through family and parenting classes. Her many passions led her to fight a war on drugs while at the same time providing outreach to those in need of assistance. As her nest began to empty, she applied her time and talents to Social Work through Catholic Community Services and Bellevue Center before transitioning to and retiring from the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Administration. In this role, she became a strong advocate for the rights of and support for those who lacked the means or ability themselves.
She was considered by many to be one of those "larger than life" people. She will be dearly missed! However, we can take comfort in knowing her legacy will live on through all those impacted by her unshakable faith, abounding love and selfless generosity.
Funeral Services for Mary Lynne will be held on Friday March 24th at St. Mary Catholic Church, which include a Rosary at 10:30, Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00, with a graveside service to follow at Grand View Cemetery. At 1:00 a Reception will be held at the American Croatian Club located at 1201 7th Street, Anacortes. To share memories of Mary Lynne, please visit www.evanschapel.com.
