Mary Elizabeth " Betty" Apker, age 89, died on July 10, 2022, in Tulsa, OK. Betty was born on December 9th, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI, to parents Norma and George L. Cavaness. She graduated from Marquette High School, Tulsa OK, in the class of 1950, then furthered her education by obtaining a degree in Business, from The University of Tulsa. On July 2, 1957, she married Joseph E. Apker, and they made their home in Tulsa Oklahoma. Betty was married previously to Frank Lee Ray, 2LT U.S. Air Force, who passed away February 1955 in Denver, Colorado
Betty was deeply involved as a docent at Gilcrease Museum for the majority of her life. She was an accomplished knitter and gardener. Her family and friends will always remember her as a devout member of her parishad and devoted Mother of 5 children.
She is survived by her children Janet Apker Balint (Stephen) Las Vegas, NV, Bill Apker (Susan) Bixby, OK, Joanne Apker Shanahan (Edward IV) Gainesville, VA, Kathleen Rosdahl (Richard) Joplin, MO. Grandchildren, Brooke Apker Knight (Paul), Tulsa, OK, Sebastian Balint (Virginia) Mt. Juliet, TN, Alex Balint Las Vegas, NV, Joseph Adib-Yazdi, Boston, MA, Audrey Adib-Yazdi, Chicago, IL, Edward Shanahan V, Gainesville, VA. Great Grandchildren Parker and Brady Knight, Rosalyn and Joseph Balint. She is preceded in death by her parents, Norma and George L. Cavaness, brother George W. Cavaness, husband Joseph E. Apker, husband Frank L Ray and son Stephen L. Apker.
A funeral is scheduled for Thursday on July 14, 2022, at St. Clement of Rome, Roman Catholic Church, Bixby OK at 10:00 AM. Memorial donations can be sent to the Alzheimer's Association. Viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 13, 2022, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Fitzgerald's Southwood Chapel, Tulsa OK. Rosary following the Viewing at 7:00 PM.
