Mary Anne Fleming Johnston, entered into Heaven on Friday evening, Jan. 29, 2021. Born October 23rd, 1934 in Ambrose, Texas to Robert Ramsey Fleming and Pauline Sanford Fleming. She was a graduate of Texas State College for Women (currently known as TWU), with a Bachelor of Science in 1957, along with a Master of Education in 1975.
Mary Anne taught in Duncanville for 32 years and Dallas for 3 years. She thoroughly enjoyed her family. She was an excellent cook, Mother and incredibly supportive wife to her husband, who farmed and ranched in Southwest Dallas County.
Mary Anne is predeceased by her husband, Thomas R. Johnston of 39 years, passed away Jan. 8, 1997. Further predeceased by her parents, sister, and a great grandchild.
She is survived by her two daughters and two sons: daughters, Leanna Wooten and husband Bill Wooten of Bells, TX, Ellen Oliver and husband Ron Oliver of Dallas, TX. Sons, Robert Johnston and wife Rocio of Duncanville, TX and Sydney Johnston of Paris, TX. Seven grand children Kellie Wooten Connatser and husband Troy Connatser, Robert Wooten and wife Lindsay Wooten, Johanna Marie Johnston, Emily Johnston, Nathaniel Johnston, Gabriel Johnston, Elizabeth Oliver, along with seven great grandchildren.
From those farming roots at Ambrose, Texas; carrying on those values of honesty and hard work, she was well equipped supporting and growing a family on a farm in Southwest Dallas County. Our Mom was a beloved first grade, third grade and kindergarten teacher earning several locally and nationally recognized teaching awards. One of her greatest joys was teaching children to master the love of reading, which she was well known for.
Family will receive friends at visitation on Wed. Feb. 3rd from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Jaynes Funeral Chapel located at 811 S. Cockrell Hill Rd., Duncanville, TX 75137. A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4th at Wheatland Memorial Cemetery located at 7950 S. Hampton Rd., Dallas, TX 75232.
