Mary Ann M. O'Brien of Hudson, NH, (originally of Detroit, MI) died peacefully among her loving family at The Community Hospice Center on December 23, 2020 after suffering a stroke.
The only daughter of Stephen and Margaret Zeman, Mary Ann graduated from Denby High School in Detroit and while singing in a working band, took college classes. She's accomplished much in her life including working as a secretary at General Motors and Digital Equipment Corp. She studied classical voice for ten years at the Detroit Conservatory of Music and enjoyed singing all her life. She was an extremely faithful woman who not only taught CCD, she ran the entire program for many years. She volunteered in the grief support group; she produced the church bulletin for many years, as well. Her faith was deep and abiding to the end. Mary Ann was also a tax return preparation specialist who helped many people over the years. For the past 20 or so years, she has been a successful, self-employed clothing tailor. She had many, many happy customers.
But if you only gave her one subject to talk about, it would be her family. A mother of 4 daughters, 'Grammie' to six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, her family was her absolute pride and joy. She was fond of saying, "my grandchildren walk on water". Photos of her family adorn her home and she would always be there for anyone who needed her guidance, help with their taxes, the world's best babysitter, or just a button sewed onto their coat. Nothing in this entire world meant more to her than her family. Nothing.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Daniel; her daughters, Shara-Lynn Pouliot and her wife, Marianne, Susanna Klein and her husband, Mace, and Tiffany Rudis and her husband, Keith; her grandchildren, Matthew Pouliot and his wife, Sally, Kaylie Couto and her husband, Matthew, Joshua Klein and his wife, Katrina, Jana Klein and her partner, Marc, Illoria Bancroft and her husband, Jamison, and Galadriel Rudis; six great-grandchildren (Sami, Haris, Dylan, Lydia, Aria and Evie), several nieces and nephews (the loving Varney family), and cousins in Michigan and Pennsylvania. She is pre-deceased by her daughter, Shannon, her parents, and her brother, James.
