Mary Ann Flowers, 81, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 8, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born on August 21, 1939 in Somerset, OH to the late John and Mary (Flautt) Altier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Flowers on March 3, 2011.
Mary Ann obtained her cosmetology license in Columbus, Ohio, fell in love, married February 27, 1960 to the love of her life and started their family. After raising eight children, she re-entered the workforce with Gibson Greeting Cards servicing Kroger (west). She loved interacting with people and helping them find that perfect card for their special occasion. She was often referred to as the "Card Lady". Over her lifetime, she sent thousands of cards to brighten someone's day. The family would like this tradition to continue. In honor of her memory, please consider sending a card to someone. Mary Ann was a devoted member of St. Mark Parish, nominated as Catholic Woman of the Year, a huge Buckeye fan and a loving mother and grandmother.
Mary Ann is survived by daughter Linda (Brian) Hunt; grandchildren Crystal (David) and Anthony (Kris) and great grandchild Andrew; daughter Patricia (Jim) Spires Jr.; granddaughters Andrea (Clayton), Annamarie (Ben) and Leslie (Zach); son Martin (Rhonda Craig) Flowers; grandchildren Matthew (Katie) and Sarah (Clay); daughter Lori Morarity; grandchildren Kendall (Kaitlyn) and Rilee; son Paul (Reena Sewell) Flowers; grandchildren Hannah, Jacob and Aidan; daughter Jennifer (Don) Frear; grandchildren Miranda and Austin; son David (Jonelle Langford) Flowers; Frankie, Jude and Evelyn; daughter Monica (Tony) Lutz; grandchildren Sydney and Gavin; brothers and sisters Leo (Ann) Altier, Christina Altier, Bill (Suzie) Altier, Pamela Altier Compston; brother-in-law Richard (Barb) Flowers and sister-in-laws Helen Dominic, Irene (Pete) Kunkler and Ann Mooney Flowers; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her brothers Louis, Donald, John and Paul Altier.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Alicia Coffell and the many caregivers who contributed to her comfort.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Mark Church with Fr. Peter M. Gideon as Celebrant. Burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, June 10 at SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME from 2-4 PM and from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Fairhope Hospice of Fairfield County.
