Mary Ann Brasure, 82, of Niagara, Wis., passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, August 13, 2019.
She was born June 7, 1937 in Sheboygan Falls, Wis., daughter of the late Norbert and Ann Walter. Mary Ann grew up in Sheboygan Falls, Wis., and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1955. She earned her teaching credential from the Sheboygan County Normal School and taught in a two-room schoolhouse at the Lima Elementary School which happened to be the same school her father attended.
Mary Ann married Garth Brasure on November 29, 1958, at St. Rose Catholic Church in the town of Lima. After being married, they resided in Sheboygan County where they built a home on the family farm that was also in the town of Lima.
In 1973, the family moved to Niagara Wis., to be closer to her husband's job at MJ Electric's corporate office. Mary Ann worked on and off as a substitute teacher in the Niagara school district and was a teacher at Holy Spirit School in Norway for a few years.
She loved her family, friends, a good beer and loved to read, sew and cook. She was also an active member in church for many years at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara.
Mary Ann is survived by four sons, Todd (Patti) Brasure, Timothy Brasure, Thomas (Ann) Brasure, all of Niagara, Wis., and Gregory (Katie) Brasure, of Wausau, Wis.; two daughters, Mary "Terese" (Tony) Espe, of Onalaska, Wis., and Suzanne (Timothy) Schmitt Brasure, of Mount Horeb, Wis.; one sister, Donna Poppenhagen, of Saratoga, CA; one sister-in-law Carol Jean (Ronald) Feldman, of Plymouth, Wis.; grandchildren, Jason, Derrick, Krissa, Timothy, Lanie, Annabelle, Paige, Brooke, Michael, Olivia, Emma, Reid, Blake, Ivan; two great-grandsons, Landen and Bennet; cousins, nephews, nieces, and many special friends.
Besides her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Garth; two infant sons, Gregory Girard and Thomas Robert; one brother-in-law, Bruce Poppenhagen; and one niece, Sherri Feldman.
Visitation will be Friday, August 23, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara, Wis. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 12:00 noon at the church. Rev. Fr. Michael Lightner will officiate. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery, Lima.
Pallbearers will be Mary Ann four sons, Todd, Timothy, Thomas, and Gregory, and son-in-laws, Tony Espe, and Timothy Schmitt.
