Mrs. Mary Anita Davis Young, 55, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away Monday, March 17, 2025 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. She was born May 26, 1969 in Augusta, Georgia to Boyce Ficklen Davis and the late James Edward Davis. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Vivian "Bibi" Reese Eckman.
Anita grew up in Washington, Georgia where she attended Wilkes Academy and was a well-rounded athlete, participating in cheerleading, basketball, and softball. She then completed three years of college at the University of Georgia where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. After college, she worked as vice president at Oconee State Bank. She met her husband, Bill Young, in 1993 and they married on July 9, 1994 and lived in Athens and Watkinsville. They had two children, Marian in 1995 and William in 2000 and relocated to Newnan in 2002. In Newnan, she devoted herself to being the most caring and thoughtful wife and mother her husband and children could have asked for. Her family was her greatest joy and nothing made her happier than spending time with them. In 2022, she welcomed her grandson, Harrison, and as his beloved "Neetsy," she poured the same boundless love and care into him.
The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 11 o'clock at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 656 Roscoe Road, Newnan, Georgia 30263 with family friend Dr. Jarmaine Elder officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Anita's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
