Marvin A. Michaelis, 81, of Florida, Ohio died Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the Napoleon Lutheran Home. He was born September 19, 1940 in Holgate, Ohio to the late Bernard and Edna (Oberhaus) Michaelis. On April 8th, 1961 he married Nancy Mae (Walter) Michaelis and she preceded him in death on July 7, 2004. On December 13, 2009, he married Nancy (Chamberlain) Michaelis, who survives.
Marv was employed by Automatic Feed Company, Napoleon, Ohio for over 44 years. He was a faithful member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Florida, Ohio and held several offices. He was very active in the village of Florida and belonged to the Florida Village Council for several years. He was the longest living member of the Florida / Flatrock Twp. Volunteer Fire Department and served as Captain for over 25 years. He was the proud recipient of the first 50-year Florida Fire Department Active-Duty Fireman Award.
Marv was humbled to be recognized as the 2003 Ohio's Bicentennial Barn that stands on the Michaelis family farm. He was a 30 year 4-H Advisor for North Florida Sod Busters and Busy Fingers Club. He was a 1992 member of the 4-H Henry County Hall of Fame and was very involved in the Henry County Fair. He enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and abroad.
He is also survived by his children, Wayne (Becky) Michaelis, Annette (Randy) Miller, and Tammy (Clint) Gould; grandchildren, Sierra Michaelis, Melissa (Brian) Allen, Kendra Michaelis (Job Ramirez), Jordan (Sarah) Miller, Taylor Miller (Dillon Hutchison), Logan Gould, and Hailey Gould; great grandchildren; Sophie Allen, Eleanor Miller, Henry Miller, Judy Allen, and a great grandchild on the way; stepchildren, Steve Dennis II (Michelle Mahlman), Shelly (Alan) Storch; 5 step grandchildren, and 3 step great grandchildren; and sister, Diann (George) Johnson; and sisters-in-law, Rozella Gruenhagen and Judy Michaelis. He was also preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Eden Lynn Miller; stepmother, Anna (Smith Franz) Michaelis; and siblings, Clarence Michaelis, Betty (Dan) Middleton, and Ben (Barb) Michaelis.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 17th, 2022 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Florida, Ohio. Interment and Fireman's salute will follow in the procession to Florida Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 3-7 p.m. at Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon and Saturday from Noon-1 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Marvin and Nancy Michaelis 4-H Endowment Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
