Marvid (Marv) Royd Johnson, 81 of La Conner passed away peacefully on October 16, 2021, in Mount Vernon, WA. He was born on July 21, 1940, to Art and Phyliss (Stimpson) Johnson in Burley, Id. Marv served as a communications technician in the Army. And he earned a degree in Sheet Metal Fabrication and Welding from Seattle 'Community' College. Marvid went to work in the Sheet Metal trade and worked there from 1967 - 2001. His last place of employment was at the UW. He loved that job and the people he worked with. Marvid is survived by his wife of 49 years (Dagnija Valdmanis), sister Shirley (Johnson) Hodge and brothers Keith (Barbara), Kenny (Susan) and Morrie and many nieces and nephews. He did much of the construction of their first home in Lake Forest Park and supervised construction of their current home in La Conner Marv and Dagnija enjoyed travelling. Places they visited include Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Hawaii, Hong Kong, Latvija, Germany and much of the USA. Also, they cruised the Caribbean and the St Lawrence River. Golf was his passion. He and Dagnija found many courses, near and far to play. And for many years spent several months each year golfing with friends in Southern California. He also loved hunting and fishing. Marv was very proud of the rock garden he designed and built at home in La Conner. Often people stopped by to compliment him on the yard. Friends and family remember Marv as a loving and caring person and will miss his booming laugh and hugs. A celebration of Marv's life will take place at the Skagit Golf & Country Club (16701 Country Club Dr., Burlington, WA 98233) on November 14th from 2 - 5.
