Marva Lynn Anglesey Murdoch passed away from causes incident to age on December 25, 2023 at the Ashton Living Center in Ashton, Idaho. She was born in February 1939 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Walter James Anglesey and Alice Luella Hall Anglesey. She grew up in Labelle, Idaho in a small farm home as the youngest of 13 children (seven of whom died as babies). Growing up in a small farm home gave her many opportunities to learn the value of service and hard work from her parents. Though she lived most of her growing-up years in Labelle and attended Rigby schools, her family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho prior to her last year of high school, where Marva graduated from Idaho Falls High School.
She met the love of her life on a blind date at the young age of fifteen, and they were engaged a few months later. After waiting for three years, Marva and Darrell Murdoch were married in October 1957 in the Idaho Falls, Idaho temple. They spent most of their married life at their home on Squirrel Road outside of Ashton, where they raised their eight children.
Marva served in various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life, of which she especially loved the callings that involved music. Music was always an important part of her life, and she was known to often break into song to her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved spending time with her family more than anything. Her other numerous interests included supporting her children and grandchildren in their numerous activities, music, sewing, arranging flowers, crocheting, gardening, planting flowers, and serving others. Marva worked for 25 years for the United State Forest Service with the Targhee National Forest District in Ashton. After retirement, she spent those initial years learning new skills, joined a local singing group ("The Notations"), and spent extra time with her many grandchildren. After Darrell retired, they spent their retirement years together visiting family members across the U.S. and spent time visiting other interests along the way. They also served together as service missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at Deseret Industries in Rexburg, Idaho.
She is survived by her eight children: Dena (Brian Putnam) Murdoch of Chubbuck, Idaho; Christy (Gary) Parkin of Pocatello, Idaho; Debra (Mat) Clark of Ashton, Idaho; Scott (Michelle) Murdoch of Springville, Utah; Bruce (Miles) Murdoch of Pocatello, Idaho; Kurt (Becky) Murdoch of West Jordan, Utah; Connie (Fabricio) Zarate of Rigby, Idaho; and Marcia Murdoch of Ashton, Idaho. She is also survived by twenty-nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Marva was preceded in death by her husband, parents, twelve siblings, and her infant granddaughter, Stephanie Parkin.
Family will meet friends and family on Thursday, December 28th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. and on Friday, December 29th from 10-10:45 a.m. The funeral will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. All three events will be held at the Ashton, Idaho 3rd/4th Ward building by the Pineview Cemetery. The family would like to express appreciation to the Ashton Living Center for the kind and loving care shown to their beloved mother over the last three years.
