MARTIN'S OBITUARY
Martin Griffin Holleran, a resident of Palm Cove Golf and Yacht Club in Palm City, Fl., passed away at home on Saturday, December 19, 2020.
Martin (Marty) was born on November 27, 1936 to Thomas and Loretta Holleran of Newark and Sea Girt, New Jersey. He attended St. Leo's Elementary, Seton Hall Prep, Georgetown University (BA) and Georgetown Law Center, Washington DC, Law Degree (JD).
Martin was admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the United States, admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey, admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia.
Marty started his law career as a Law Secretary to the Honorable Robert Shaw, US District Court of New Jersey, and from there went on to become Assistant US Attorney, US District Court of NJ, with appearances in Civil Trial in the District Court and Appellate appearances before the 3rd Circuit. He was appointed Assistant Prosecutor, Essex County NJ Organized Crime Strike Force; Project Director City/County Organized Crime Strike Force; Executive Director, NJ State Commission of Investigation; then went on to serve as Counsel, NJ Sports and Exposition Authority, the Meadowlands in New Jersey, appointed by Governor Brendan Byrne.
As his career expanded, a move to Florida was in Marty's future when he was offered the position as President of Wackenhut's Sports Security, Inc., combined with serving simultaneously as Vice President of Wackenhut's Business Development.
After retiring, Mr. Holleran established Holleran Associates offering Mediation, Business Consultation, Labor Negotiations and Sports and Entertainment Industry Analysis.
He became a Florida Supreme Court certified Circuit Mediator and a Florida Supreme Court Certified Appellate Mediator, mediating primarily in the 11th, 15th, 17th and 19th Circuits
Marty enjoyed lecturing and seminar engagements, participating as a panelist and lecturer at the University of Arizona, National College of District Attorneys, International Association of Auditorium Managers, Joint Department of Justice and American Institute of Architects, St. Thomas University Graduate Sports Administration Program, and conducting Training Seminars for Security Consultants and National Area Sales Managers throughout the United States.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Mary Francis and daughters, Mary (Mimi) Leonard (John) of Ormond Beach, Fl., son John, III (Jack) Leonard (Michele), John IV (JB) Tampa, Fl.; Joyce Ann (Keenan) Brabazon, (Terence) of Collegeville, PA; Lauren Brabazon, Collegeville, Pa; Matthew Brabazon (Kasi), son Oliver, Indian Trail, NC; Thomas of Berkley Heights, NJ, Morgan, NY, NY, Patrick, Denver, CO. Connor, Berkley Heights, NJ; John (Sabrina) of Northfield, NJ; Eileen, Nina and Chloe (Mark), Northfield, NJ; Christopher (Cristina) of Honolulu, HI; Matthew (Maureen) of Cranford, NJ, Matthew, Michael and Catherine, Cranford, NJ; James Keenan (Karen) of Jupiter, FL, Chelsea Keenan (Priest), Keenan F. Priest, Cedar Rapids, IA; Chase Keenan, Washington DC, Chandler Keenan, Tallahassee, FL, and Dennis Keenan of Bristol, PA. Always aware of his ability to give back, Marty served on numerous Boards, Committees and Pro Bono projects, including the Asset Protection Group, Florida Arts and Dance, Yacht and Country Club, St. Christopher's Church Council, Hobe Sound, FL., the Georgetown University Club of NJ, and served as President of the Palm Cove Condo Association (2017-19). Marty was most involved with the Treasure Coast Hospice serving as a Volunteer from 2011 to 2019, and continued supporting their mission as a team member.
Marty had a dynamic personality, he could talk on any and every topic, and his sense of humor was boundless. With many opportunities to play golf across the United States, Marty and Mary made trips from the East Coast to the West, enjoying superb golf and visiting National Parks along the way. Their travels remain a source of photographic memories, fun, enjoyment and adventures that will remain forever.
