Martha Smith Everson

Mrs. Martha Smith Everson, 85, of Albany, peacefully passed away into the arms of Jesus on Sunday morning, July 23, 2023. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 30, 2023, in the chapel of Joseph W. Jones Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Mrs. Everson will be laid to rest at Shepard Cemetery in Colquitt following the service. Born April 21, 1938, in Mitchell County, Mrs. Everson was the daughter of the late Clifford and Amy Parker Smith. She retired as a registered nurse from Phoebe Putney and spent her later years as a homemaker. She was a Godly woman who loved the Lord and her family dearly. Mrs. Everson was a member of First Assembly of God of Albany for many years and then later became a member of Harvest Temple Church of God, currently known as Life Church of Leesburg. A beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, she will be greatly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Layfatte Everson and her siblings, Lollie Ruth Smith, Clifford Smith Jr., Rhea "Elinor" Beardsley, Pattie Smith, Robert Smith, Ronald "LaVelle" Smith, and John William "J.W." Smith. Survivors include her children, LaFaye Johnson and Felton of Albany and Marty Everson and Melanie of Leesburg; 4 grandchildren, Bryan Willis, Blake Willis and Jordan, Brooke Davis and Kyle and Miranda Everson; 4 great-grandchildren, Evelyn Willis, Rhett Willis, Krefton Willis, Ayden Willis; and her brother, Lowell Smith and Barbara. The family will be at the home of Marty and Melanie Everson at 101 Dove Lane, Leesburg, GA 31763 beginning Friday at 4 and Saturday.
