Martha Jane Singeltary, 85, died December 16, 2020 in Ocala, Florida. She was born February 9, 1935 in Bradenton, Florida to Henry Richard Singeltary and Bernice Brannon Singeltary. She graduated from Manatee County High School in 1953 where she was valedictorian of her class and elected by her peers to the Hall of Fame, the school's highest honor. She attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College and graduated from Stetson University in 1957 where she was president of her sorority, Pi Beta Phi, named an Outstanding Senior and also named to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. After graduation, she moved to Ocala where she taught in the public school system and also at Grace Episcopal Day School. Following the death of her father in 1983 she returned to Bradenton to work with her brother in running the family business, which was later sold. After the death of her mother in 2003, she returned to Ocala. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, The United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Grace Episcopal Church where she served for many years on the Altar Guild and was active in establishing the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She was also a former member of the Ocala Garden Club and the Junior League. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Anne Priest and predeceased by her parents and her brother, George Thomas Singeltary, II. A private service will be held at a later date.
