Martha Servis Ruhling 92, of St. Petersburg, FL, formerly of Madison, CT passed away with family at her side on Saturday June 18, 2022. She leaves behind four children from her first marriage to Kenneth L. Jansen: Deborah J. MacKinnon; Mary Lou Fusi; David Jansen; Sarah Jansen; two stepsons from her second marriage to Richard W. Ruhling, Christopher and Craig Ruhling. She also leaves behind four grandchildren Luca and John Fusi and Brittany (Howell) Bodager and Benjamin Howell as well as six Ruhling step-grandchildren, Jacob; Hadley; John; Cailin; Richard ll and Anna. She leaves four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband Richard W. Ruhling after 36 happy years. Together they enjoyed family, friends and many activities especially travel and golf. Martha was born in Rochester, NY to Russell W. and Helen (White) Servis July 8, 1929 three months before the Great Market Crash. She graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1945 at the age of 16. She then attended Cornell University where she met her first husband, graduating in 1950. She attended the School of Agriculture and never lost her interest in science. While her children were in school she got a Master's Degree in Microbiology. She worked at Yale Medical School in a lab working on the DNA project. In Madison she taught swimming to many children and adolescents. She was engaging with a good sense of humor. She was curious enjoying classical music, opera and any museum. You could always count on Mom to take a walk, swim sail or travel to a foreign country. Many of her interests were passed to her children. Like her Father, she could make an exceptional meal. Marty, as she was called was involved in the service of the Madison Shellfish Commission. The environment and its future was always a lesson to her children. She will be missed, but "Now Mom, you are at peace". Private family services are being held in Madison CT and Palm Harbor FL
