Martha Arliss Hudson King Boren (Arliss Boren), 85 of Seymour passed away on May 17, 2024.
She was born December 9, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio to Raymond Elijah and Kathleen Elizabeth Walsh Hudson. She graduated from Saint Joseph Academy in Cleveland in 1957. On October 12, 1957, she married Donald Paul King in Meadville, Pennsylvania and he preceded her in death on December 10, 1976. They were blessed with six children, Debra (Mike) Greene, Dawna (Kurt) Newkirk, Richard (Marie) King, Jacqueline (Dennis) Wetzel, John (Kimberly) King and Patricia (Frank) Epler. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, Andrea Newkirk, Emilee (Ian Brandt) Newkirk, Jacob (Taylor) Newkirk, Ethan Greene, Alissa (Matt) Collins, Olivia, Emerson and Ian King, Joshuah, Anna Wetzel, Zachary, Chandler and Jonathon King, Braden (Rebecca) King, Christopher (Sarah) Epler and Nicholas Epler as well as four great-grandchildren, Lydia and Granville Epler, Ryleigh Newkirk and Isaac King. Other survivors include her niece, Karen (John) Kostyo and their children, John, Jessica and Kaitlyn Kostyo, niece, Nicole (Forrest) Chetnik and her children, Liana, Abigail Chetnik, and nephews, Michael Hudson and David (Jenny) King as well as her long-time supporter and loyal friend, Nancy Schultheis. She married Michael Lee Boren on March 23, 1979 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour and he preceded her in death on December 22, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Bernadine Klein, brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Kathy Hudson and nephew, Dan King.
Arliss touched the lives of many with her kind spirit, giving heart and her love for the special details in everyone's lives. She most enjoyed her family and grandchildren, watching them grow up and was ecstatic to have family gatherings to share her love of cooking, baking and entertaining. Arliss provided childcare for many local families for over ten years before working alongside her daughter, Jacqueline, installing wallcoverings for many years.
Arliss was a lifetime member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and a member of a local Sorority.
Friends may visit with Arliss' family from 10:00 am until service time at 12:00 noon, Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Burkholder Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, 419 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour, Indiana. Father Daniel Staublin and Deacon Mike East will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
