Martha V. Jarvis-also fondly known as "Marty," 84, of Exeter, passed away on Sunday, February 8th, 2026. She was born on March 8th, 1941 in Woonsocket, RI, daughter of the late Richard and Pearl (Anderson) Van Dyke.
Marty grew up in Millville, MA, one of two children in her family and graduated from Blackstone High School, class of 1959. Marty and Robert were classmates in school and eventually reconnected with Robert, whom she knew through church. While Bob was in college they started dating and were married on May 20th, 1967.
Together they lived in Framingham, MA for about 5 years, and then moved to Westborough, MA from the early 1970's until 2018. She grew up a devout Episcopalian and attended St. Stephen Church in Westborough for 47 years. Together, Marty and Bob retired and enjoyed the close community that Riverwoods in Exeter, NH had to offer. She found a new home at the Christ Episcopal Church in Exeter.
Marty loved being a part of whichever community she found herself in. She was a "people person", someone who would make shy newcomers feel right at home. She loved animals and gardening flowers with just as much fervor. She enjoyed traveling the world, with only a few countries they were unable to see.
Marty is survived by her husband, Robert Jarvis; and her nephew, Christopher Belknap.
In addition to her parents, Marty was predeceased by her sister, Christine Belknap; and her nephew, James Belknap.
Services will be held in the spring at The Great Bay Room at Riverwoods at Exeter.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NHSPCA) or to the Riverwoods Charitable Funds Committee in Marty's memory.
