Martha Jane Christian Clark, 77 of Amelia passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2020 in Midlothian. She was born in the Andersonville community of Buckingham County on May 24, 1943, the daughter of the late Ernest Travis Christian and the late Martha Bryant Christian.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Ms. Clark was a lifetime member of Mattoax Presbyterian Church where she was an elder, Moderator of the Women, and founder of the Mattoax/Pine Grove Presbyterian Church choir. She was a past president and lifetime member of the Amelia County Fire Department Auxiliary. She also served as treasurer of the Amelia Day Committee and was active behind the scenes for many years for the Amelia County Relay for Life Committee.
She was always up for a trip no matter the destination and loved to travel with her family. She also always enjoyed going back to visit her family's home church, Bethel United Methodist in Andersonville, where she was a previous member during her childhood.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Gene Young Clark, of almost 59 years; daughters, Sharon McAbee and husband, Billy of Farmville, and Sheila Clark of Midlothian; grandchildren, Megan Harris and husband Adam of Buckingham, Kristin Hopkins and husband Greg of Midlothian, and Taylor McAbee and fiance Haley of Prospect; great granddaughter, Tessa Kate Harris; brothers, Wayne Christian and Peggy of Andersonville and Ernest "Slim" Christian of New Canton; brother-in-law, Bill Clark and Christine of Farmville; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She will be deeply missed by her loving family.
She was predeceased by brother John Edward Christian of Farmville.
