Martha Lorraine (Bateman) Anderson, 86 of Waldorf, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 2, 2024.
Martha was born in Waldorf, Maryland on July 17, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Roland Bateman, Sr, and Mabel Virginia (Sollars) Bateman.
Martha attended local schools and was a 1956 graduate of LaPlata High School. She attended Calvary United Methodist Church where she met and married her husband, Richard. Martha was active in her church serving in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Choir, the Methodist Women, and other services when needed. She raised four daughters while working and later retiring from the banking industry. Martha loved family. She enjoyed doing most anything if it was with family. She was kind to everyone she met. She had a witty sense of humor and was always singing. Martha was loved for being a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, and daughter.
In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Richard Lee Anderson; daughter, Janice Lee Garner; sister, Mary Louise Olsen and brother, Thomas Roland Bateman Jr.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Barbara Cook (Marshall); daughter, Anne Morgan; daughter, Mary Windsor (Joseph); sister, Frances Shelor; fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she cherished.
Visitation will be held at Raymond's Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. A funeral service will be held at Raymond's Funeral Chapel on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 11:00AM.
Interment to follow at Oakland Cemetery, Waldorf, MD.
