"Marshall" Dean Harlow, age 77, passed away April 8th, 2024 in Elkhart, Indiana.
Dean was born on February 21st, 1947 in Mt. Vernon, Washington, to John (Jack) and Lois Harlow. The family moved to Anacortes in 1955 where Dean was raised and attended the Anacortes schools and graduated with the class of 1965.
Dean was a member of the DeMolay in Anacortes. After graduating high school Dean enlisted in the US Army, doing basic training at Fort Ord, California. After basic training he was introduced into the Army Security Agency, ASA. Dean was stationed in Vietnam for a year and then signed up to a second year in Vietnam. After Vietnam he was stationed in Augsburg, Germany, where he helped the locals start a men's soccer league. He was a player/coach in this league. After Germany he was transferred to Elizabeth, Kentucky, where he finished his 14 years of service with an Honorable Discharge from the US Army.
He then moved to Elkhart, Indiana and worked as a welder in a mobile home factory before retiring. He lived in the Elkhart area for over 35 years and made many great friends there.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents John (Jack) and Lois Harlow in 2010. Paternal grandparents William "Bill" and Ruth Harlow, maternal grandparents George and Martha Lillygreen.
Dean is survived by his brother Reed and wife Donna Harlow and by his sister Kari. P. Harlow, all living in Burlington, and a daughter Jill living in Mexico. Also many nieces and a nephew and friends living in Skagit County and also in Elkhart, Indiana.
A celebration of Dean's life will be held Sunday the 23rd of June 2024 from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Skagit Golf and Country Club, Burlington, WA.
