Marilyn Margaret (Pegher) Macurak, age 79, of Acworth, GA passed away on April 6, 2020. Marilyn was born on September 21, 1940 to the late Raymond A. Pegher and Julia M. (Coll) Pegher in Pittsburgh, PA. Along with her parents, Marilyn is proceeded in death by her younger sister, Jeanne Marie Pegher.
Marilyn married the love of her life in 1969, Jim Macurak. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past December. Marilyn was a devout Catholic who worshipped and served at Saint Catherine's of Siena Catholic Church for nearly 40 years as one of the founding families. Marilyn graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in 1961. She had various nursing jobs in Pittsburgh and Phoenix. After spending 25 years at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA as a well-respected Resource Nurse in orthopedics, she retired in 2007. Marilyn loved the beach, "Our Place" (the family cottage in rural PA), observing nature, and spending time with her family in all aspects of their lives. She was a great listener and a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend who will be loved and missed by all.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Jim Macurak; sons, Matt (Michelle), Brian (Mitzi), Scott (Laura) and Michael (Allison) Macurak; daughters, Jami Macurak and Mary Finch; brothers, Bill, Dan and George Pegher; sister, Pat Pegher-Miller, fifteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will be having a private service to honor the life of Marilyn Margaret Macurak on Saturday, April 11th at 11:00am (service to be streamed on Facebook Live).
