Mark S. Weidner, 68, of Southington, formerly of Monroe CT, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30th, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. Mark was born on July 8th, 1954 in Granbury, TX, and was the son of the late Frederick and Evelyn (Shannon) Weidner. He was the owner/operator of his own vending company. According to his family, Mark could light up a room with the sound of his roaring laugh and with his ability to crack jokes. His curiosity allowed him to explore many domains in life- from thrill-seeking hobbies to exploring the great outdoors. He was a huge fan of auto racing, in particular Formula One Racing. He spent many weekends at Lime Rock Park in CT and Desoto Speedway in FL watching the races with family and friends. He enjoyed slot car racing and continued that hobby up until his passing. Not long ago, Mark followed his dream of owning a red Dodge Viper which provided him the "need for speed." Aside from the thrill-seeking, Mark loved boating, snow skiing, water skiing, fishing, and eating lobster and steamers (with extra butter). He particularly enjoyed family reunions on Cape Cod and vacationing in Sarasota, FL where his late parents resided. Mark is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cynthia (Heine) Weidner, his daughter Melissa Piedade and her husband Andre of Southington along with his granddaughter Harper, his other daughter Michelle Wendt and her husband Patrick of Killingworth, who are expecting their first child in April, and a brother Douglas Weidner, his wife Diane and daughter, Mary, of Pittsburgh, PA. There will be no calling hours. A service will be held in January in Fairfield, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Spreen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
