Mark D. McNabb, 72, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on May 28, 2022. He was born on June 16, 1949 to Carol and John J. McNabb in Louisville, Kentucky. He attended Wills High School in Smyrna, GA where he received a football scholarship to his beloved Furman University. Many of his fondest memories, and stories, hailed from his four years spent on the football field and with his KA Brothers. Mark later served as a Captain in the Infantry Division of the Army Reserves which fostered in him an intense love of country, military...and camouflage.
Mark's bright mind and quick wit endeared him to so many, including customers of Highland Pest Management which he owned and operated for over 20 years. Always the source of laughter, Mark was happiest in his Church Street home surrounded by his family, his dogs, and especially friends and children. He relished a good fire, a good book, good food, and sharing them all with those he loved. As a gun collector and historian, his knowledge of history, specifically Civil War, amazed us all. His many stories, both factual and fictional, shall long be remembered.
Mark is predeceased by his parents and sister, Nyna Kaminer. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ginny McNabb, her daughter Anna Hergenrader (Jeff) and son Daniel Hodge (Kiley) who he loved as his own children; a sister, Carol Peterson (Nelson); three sons, Vance McNabb, Scott McNabb (Chrissy), and James McNabb; grandchildren, Christopher, Paige, Cayce, Jack, Wesley, Graham, Forbes, William, Riley; and his beloved Labrador, Minnie.
Mark's life will be celebrated on his birthday, June 16th @ 2:00 at The First Presbyterian Church, 189 Church Street, Marietta, GA 30060, with a reception following at David and Megan Hale's home, 340 Church Street.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Furman Football Scholarship Fund, or a charity of your choice.
