Loveland resident of over 46 years, Mark Giltinan (a.k.a. Steel Fingers), passed away on May 3, 2022 in his home at the age of 82. Mark was born in Warren, Pennsylvania and was the youngest of five siblings. In his youth he was an active member of Boy Scouts, an altar boy at Holy Redeemer Church and a member of the Warren Boy Choir. Mark graduated from Warren High School in 1957 and went on to join the FBI and then the U.S. Air Force. After returning home from the military, he met the love of his life in a department store and married Marie in 1971. After giving birth to their first son, the couple decided to drive cross country and eventually landed in Loveland, Colorado, where they planted roots and grew their family. Mark retired from the Thompson R2-J School District as an electronics technician. Realizing retirement was too slow, he took shifts transporting cars for Enterprise and built great friendships there. Mark was a musical legend known throughout his life for playing steel guitar in a variety of bands, he loved playing traditional country music and entertaining crowds. He was always positive and friendly with anyone he met. Mark enjoyed time in the mountains hunting, fishing and camping--and always loved an excuse to take visitors up to Rocky Mountain National Park to catch a glimpse of the elk. This great father, grandfather, mentor, veteran, and friend will be missed. He is preceded in death by his parents Alice and Marcus F. Giltinan; his siblings Dorthea Suppa, Patricia Papalia, and John Giltinan; and his wife Marie Giltinan. He is survived by his brother William Giltinan and Mark's four children. A private military honors service and celebration of life will be held in July.
