Mark Jeffrey Barnes, 66, of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on December 11, 2021, in Knoxville.
Mark was born to Donald and Gerry (Miller) Barnes on September 10, 1955, in South Bend, Indiana. He was a very bright student and graduated from Carmel High School.
Mark was a free-spirited person who enjoyed music, especially the Beatles and The Who. He loved the outdoors, canoeing, mountain climbing, hiking, and camping. He also loved reading. He went on many camping and hiking trips with his family as a teenager. Mark also enjoyed woodworking, a skill he learned from his dad. He also taught himself to play the guitar.
Mark's true passion was photography. After moving to Knoxville, he met Anne Thompson and joined her in her family's business, Thompson's Photo Products. There he was a very valuable person to the business, he not only sold photography equipment, but he made prints, repaired cameras, and stretched canvas wall art.
Mark is survived by his mother, Gerry Barnes, of Plymouth, Indiana; sister, Dana Barclay of Nashville, Michigan; life partner, Anne Thompson of Knoxville, Tennessee; uncles, Dr. Thomas (Laura) Miller of Plymouth, Indiana, and Dr. John (Maureen) Miller of Mishawaka, Indiana, and niece, Axie Barclay of Grand Ledge, Michigan. Mark will be greatly missed!
A graveside service for Mark will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, Indiana at 1:00 PM EST. Rev. Tamara Boggs will officiate.
