Marjorie A. "Marge" Stender, 91, died Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at the Barre Gardens Nursing Home in Barre, VT.
She was born January 10, 1929 in Royalton, VT the daughter of Carroll G. and Alice B. (Oakes) Adams. She attended school in South Royalton.
On April 22, 1946 she married Charles W. Stender of Tunbridge. They lived in North Royalton and Tunbridge, but for the majority of their married life they lived in South Royalton, where they raised their three sons. For many years they enjoyed their hunting camp in Tunbridge. Charles died December 4, 1995.
For several years Marge worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Chung at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, VT.
For the last fifteen years she has made her home with Baxter Doty in Tunbrige, VT. They enjoyed going for rides, going out to eat and 4-wheeling together. She was a woman of many talents, including playing the piano, painting pictures, knitting, spinning her own wool, sewing clothing for her boys, making stained glass window, photography, hunting deer and red squirrels.
She is survived by her companion of many years, Baxter Doty of Tunbridge, VT, two sons C. Bruce Stender and his wife Pat of West Hartford, VT and Ronald Stender and his wife Janet of Sharon, VT, grandchildren Alan and Kathy, Shawn and Jody, Amy, Barbara, Mike and Chris, great grandchildren Dakota and Wendy, Patrick, Lyndsey and Ripley, great great grandchildren Ginny and Crew, a sister Katherine Boardman of South Royalton, VT and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is predeceased by her husband Charles, a son Dale Stender, a brother Leroy Adams and a sister Shirley Arnold.
There will be no public calling hours. A memorial funeral service will be held Monday, October 12, 2020 at 2pm at the Pavilion Building on the Tunbridge Fairgrounds with Pastor Tom Harty officiating. Burial will follow in the Tunbridge Village Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to South Royalton Rescue Squad, PO Box 204, South Royalton, VT 05068.
