Marjorie Josephine Mahan passed away on March 28,2022 in Rushville, lN. Marjorie was born June 8, 1932,in Greensburg, lN. She was the seventh of nine children born to Edward G. and Adelaide J. Enxel Welage. Marjorie attended St Mary school in Greensburg and graduated from Greensburg High School in 1950. She then worked as a bookkeeper for Johnson Grocery Wholesalers in Greensburg. ln March of 1953, she met Wayman Mahan on a blind date. He became the love of her life. lt was a whirlwind romance and they married on November 7, 1953. A city girl, she adventurously became a Rush County farmer's wife and learned a new way of life. Together, Marjorie and Wayman raised five children: Christy (Doug) Hall, Tom (Colleen), Kevin (Julie), and Mike (Mindy), all of Rushville, and Tony (Kristin) of Vincennes. Grandchildren include Aaron (Trish) Mastin, Andrew (Jessica) Mastin, Emily {Jacob) Neal, Jacob Hall, Brad (Sarah) Mahan, Lauren (Chris)Shaney, Kari (Clint) McClellan, Kristin (JD) Scheumann, Jennifer (Jeremy) McDaniel, Douglas (Robert) Mahan, Blake (Christine) Mahan, Molly, Will and Tucker Mahan. Fifteen great-grandchildren also survive as well as brothers Roger Welage of Greensburg and Vincent Welage of lndianapolis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A life-long Catholic, Marjorie was a member of St Mary Catholic Church and St Mary Sodality. She enjoyed traveling, playing euchre and visiting with family and friends. Marge made hundreds of baskets over the years, winning many blue ribbons and champion ribbons at the Rush County Fair. She was an excellent cook and had many requests for German potato salad, buttermilk coffee cake and sugar cream pie.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Wayman, on July 28,2019, as well as two sisters, Marie Oliger and Mildred Moeller, and four brothers, Edward, Robert, Leonard and Richard Welage.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St Mary Catholic Church at 11 am Friday, April 1, 2022 with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Rushville. Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am with visitation from 10 am to time of service. Memorials may be made to RN Club Scholarship thru Rush County Community Foundation or St Mary Church. Moster Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
