Mrs. Marion Stone
Marion Stone was a wonderful woman who helped many in her quiet way, and until the end loved to dance.
Marion Theresa Stone, nee Linn, died on August 23, 2018, in Brightview Catonsville, where she had lived for the past two years. Marion was born on February 16, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York. She was the second child of Mary (nee Loughran) and James Linn. Marion went to Bay Ridge High School, and then worked in New York City for many years as a secretary. In 1970, Marion moved to Washington, D.C. to be the secretary to the inaugural President and CEO of the brand new Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac). Marion worked at Freddie Mac, always supporting the President and CEO, until her retirement in 1996.
In 1978 Marion met James Stone at a Sunday afternoon tea dance. Marion and Jim fell in love, married, and lived in Arlington, Virginia until they retired. They danced, golfed, travelled and generally enjoyed themselves in a loving circle of family and friends. In 2001 they moved to the Villages in Lady Lake, Florida, where they continued their activities and bought a golf cart. In 2006 Jim died from complications due to Parkinson's disease.
Marion is survived by three sisters and two brothers: Margaret Finn, Josephine Curran, Kathleen Linn, Brendan Linn, and Walter Linn (Linda). She is also survived by two step children, Linda Neves and Jim Stone Jr., and one step-daughter, Carrie King. In addition to her husband, her stepdaughter Libby Stone and siblings James Linn, Francis Linn and Helen Noonan (nee Linn) predeceased her. She is also survived by twenty-six nieces and nephews and their children, all big fans of their Aunt Marion.
Marion was an independent and self-sufficient woman at a time when that was not easy. She was always a woman of faith, and an awesome daughter, sister, wife, step-mother, aunt, friend, and godmother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 29, at St. Mark's Church in Catonsville, Maryland. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America be made in Marion's name. Arrangements by the MacNABB Funeral Home P.A. of Catonsville.
