Mario, Vinci, 63, loving husband of Linda (Staskiewicz) Vinci, of Middletown, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital. Mario was born on July 15, 1957, in Melilli, Italy, He was a son the late Sebastiano and Sebastiana (Filingeri) Vinci.
Mario retired from the Department of Corrections after 20 years of dedicated service. Following his retirement, Mario soon found his niche and a home of camaraderie working part time for Duksa Family Funeral Homes where he made such an indelible mark both within the funeral home as well as out and about in the community on behalf of the funeral home. He will be sorely missed by all. He was a member of the YMCA of Middletown for over 40 years and took great pride in staying fit. Mario had a true zest for life and for sharing of himself and his adventures. He loved to travel, play cards, eat out, and take trips to the casino with Linda and with their many dear friends. Tending his garden was an endless source of enjoyment and sharing generously of the abundance of his perfected home-grown tomatoes brought smiles and appreciation everywhere he went. He also loved his Boston Red Sox.
Mario loved his family and friends. Besides his wife and best friend, Linda, of over 30 years , he leaves his daughter Dee-Nella Vinci and her children, Carmelina, Chloe and Joshua, his son Joey Barbera and his wife Kate and their son Max of Orange, CT, his brother, Biagio Vinci of Middletown, his sister, Josie Didato and her Fianc? Frank Mazzota of Middletown, and her son Sebestian Marino, and his wife Laura, his sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Russell and her husband, John of Wilmington, NC, nephew Noah and niece Victoria Vinci as well as several other nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. Mario also leaves behind many dear friends who will miss him as well. Relatives and friends are invited to call on the family on Wednesday evening, April, 14, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning, April 15, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of The Holy Spirit, 183 Church Street, Newington. Please meet the family directly at church. Mario will be laid to rest in St. Sebastian's Cemetery, Middlefield. The regulations required for face masks and social distancing continue to be in effect and will be observed.
