Marilyn Alice Tucker, 78, of Ocala, Florida, entered into heaven on August 14, 2021. Born May 5, 1943 in Central Falls, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late George and Clarice Weavill. She graduated from Pawtucket West High School and the University of Rhode Island, earning a degree in secondary education. In her youth she was active in Girl Scouts state wide as well as Smithfield Avenue Congregational Church. She married her late husband Howard W. Tucker III in 1967 and worked as a physical education teacher in the Pawtucket, RI school system for a time until moving to Salisbury, Maryland in 1974. There she owned and operated Peninsula Pork with her husband. She was an active member of Wicomico Presbyterian Church, volunteered for many years with the mailing of the Christian Shelter newsletter, and worked as the first PE teacher at Salisbury Christian School. Upon retirement in 2000, she relocated to Ocala, Florida to enjoy the warmer weather, collect yarn, and knit to her heart's content. She was also a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Ocala, Florida and attended several groups that knit for charities.
She is survived by her two sons, Gregory his wife Cherie and AJ and his wife Jeri of Salisbury, Maryland, grandchildren; Carson, Morgan, Haley, Logan, Colby, and Raegan. She also leaves a brother, George Weavill Jr. and his wife Janice of North Smithfield, RI, and a sister Carol Meslin and her husband James of Johnston, RI, as well as many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Her beloved husband, Howard Winfield Tucker III, of 53 years, preceded her in death last year, as well as her youngest brother, Raymond Weavill in 2010.
A celebration of life service will be planned in the coming months.
